Plaster Boarding

Plaster boarding can be a cost effective way of lining walls and ceilings prior to plastering . Plaster Board is also referred to as Dry Wall, Gypsum Board and Wall Board. It is an important part of the plastering process. Used well, its a joy. It can, however, be used too often by plasterers looking to cut corners. We only use it when absolutely necessary for the quality completion of the job. Quality first.

Tape and Jointing

When using plaster boards, the boards must be joined together, and the joins must be hidden, prior to the plaster being applied. Tape and jointing is that process, achieved by hand or by machine. Its an extremely skilled and sometimes underestimated part of the plastering process. But as with all plastering, preparation is everything.

Rough Casting

This is the famous pebble dashing, popular in the UK since the war. You can see it on every street and estate in the country. Rough casting is a form of render. It is a lime compound, the lime is mixed with cement and sand, and once applied, small stones, pebbles or shells are pressed into the surface. Hence 'pebble dash'.

Wet Dash

Wet Dash is a specific finish which is achieved by using a rough, coarse aggregate. It is thrown loosely onto the wall, and left unfinished, giving a rough, artisan look. It can look great, in the right situation. Its popular in Scotland and the north of England, where its durability and strength make it ideal for protecting a property from wild weather. Getting the right consistency, so the aggregate stays on the wall, and having the technique to apply it, is a hard earned skill that few plasterers possess.

Float and Set

This is an important technique of plastering which is used to level walls with a backing plaster. This is done before tiling or prior to the application of a final smooth coat. The backing plaster is applied wet, so its often known as wet plastering, to a depth of approximately 11 mm, and requires great skill to ensure its done properly. Plastering Swansea are very experienced with this technique.

Coving

Coving is a look everyone is familiar with, and it is found everywhere, from stately homes to city-centre flats. Some coving is made of plaster product, but cheaper coving is made from hard foam. It works to hide the join between wall and ceiling, which is often uneven and ugly, especially in older houses. It gives a sense of smooth completeness to an interior design decor.

Coving can add elegance and charm to any room. Plastering Swansea are skilled at all coving work. We are happy to renovate existing coving, or to install it new. We can also remove coving, if it no longer suits your decor.

Plastering

I wanted a load of repair work done. Nothing bad, but it was two days work in a big house. They were superb. I cannot fault their work or their price. Thank you.

Happy customer

My walls were a mess, and I used to hate visitors seeing them. I saved some money and got them done by a local company, so if there was a problem I could easily get them back. But no problems. They are the best in Swansea.
